Motorcycle Accident Statistics
Motorcycle accidents are a common occurrence in the United States. There are over 88,000 motorcycle accidents each year. While motorcycles only make up 3% of all vehicles on the road, they account for 14% of all traffic fatalities. This is likely because motorcycles offer little protection in an accident.
There are many reasons for this increase, including motorcycles are often more difficult to see than other types of vehicles. Additionally, motorcycles can travel at high speeds and are more likely to be involved in collisions with other vehicles.
Many people ride motorcycles because they offer a sense of freedom and excitement that cannot be found in other modes of transportation. Unfortunately, this also means motorcycle riders are at a greater risk of being injured or killed in an accident.
If you are a motorcycle rider, it is important to be aware of the dangers you face on the road and to take steps to protect yourself from harm. Always wear a helmet and protective clothing, and never ride while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Also, stay aware of your surroundings and avoid riding in busy or dangerous areas.
