One civilian and two police officers were injured following a two-vehicle collision in Mid-City, Los Angeles, on Wednesday morning, August 16, 2023.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred near the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Cochran Avenue shortly after 9:00 a.m.
A heavily damaged police SUV was reported to have ended up against a light pole on the center median. Close by, a BMW sedan was on a sidewalk near a toppled street light. The BMW’s rear bumper was hanging off. The cause of the crash is unknown, pending an investigation.
At the time of the collision, the officers were on patrol and not responding to an emergency call. Authorities say the crash is being investigated as an accident.
The civilian and two officers sustained unspecified injuries in the incident. At least one person was brought to a local hospital, but it could not be determined from the report who it was.
No information was released regarding the victim’s identity.
