[08-16-2023] San Diego County, CA – La Mesa Hit-and-Run Collision Leaves Bicyclist Seriously Injured

A bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in La Mesa on Thursday evening, August 16, 2023.

The La Mesa Police Department responded to the accident around 7:39 p.m. at Murray Hill Road and Waite Drive.

The bicyclist was found unable to move on the road when the truck’s hood knocked him over. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Initially, the truck driver pulled over but drove off before police arrived. A Hispanic man described as wearing a hat, a white t-shirt, black shorts, and white shoes was driving the four-door white Ford pickup.

According to the reports, the truck was seen crossing Buena Vista Avenue under the freeway overpass of State Route 94.

No name has been released about the 51-year-old victim.

In surveillance video recovered by investigators, a white crew cab Ford F150 Sport was revealed as the truck involved. It is possible that the truck’s grille and hood have minor damage.

An investigation is underway.
