What to Do After a Car Accident

Anywhere and at any time, a car accident can occur. Because of this, we should always be prepared for whatever may come our way. Those involved in a car accident know how important it is to be prepared. Here is a list of what you should do in the aftermath of an accident:

  1. Collect as much information as possible at the scene of an accident. Exchange information with the other parties involved, if applicable.
  2. Immediately report this to the authorities and do not admit fault. A copy of the accident report can be obtained from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or the police station where the report was filed within a few days. You must submit it together with your claim.
  3. Collect as much information as you can on potential witnesses. Quickly get their names and contact information.
  4. Find a doctor right now. Get medical attention if you’ve been hurt, even if you don’t think you need it.
  5. Inform your insurance provider. Only settle with other insurance companies once you have spoken with our California car accident lawyers.
