[08-17-2026] Orange County, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in San Juan Capistrano

A 23-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in San Juan Capistrano, Orange County, early Monday morning, August 17, 2026.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. at Ortega Highway and La Novia Avenue.

Authorities identified the pedestrian as Cesar R. of Los Angeles. Investigators allege that a vehicle struck the victim and that the driver left the scene.

Authorities later arrested 85-year-old Anthony K. of San Juan Capistrano on suspicion of striking and killing the pedestrian and leaving the scene.
