[08-18-2023] Contra Costa County, CA – Three Separate Car Crashes Involving At Least Six Cars Injures One Person in El Cerrito

One person was injured following three separate car crashes involving at least six cars in El Cerrito on Friday morning, August 18, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the accident around 5:50 a.m. on westbound Interstate 80 just before Carlson Boulevard.

According to the authorities, two crashes were reported between 5:50 a.m. and 6:50 a.m. It involved six to eight vehicles resulting in a severe traffic backup. There is a possibility that one person was injured.

It was suspected that at least one vehicle involved in the crash struck other vehicles before driving away. There was no release of information about those involved in the crash.

During the investigation, the Nissan Altima in the HOV lane remained immobilized and must be towed, and other vehicles were moved to the right shoulder.
