[08-19-2026] Kern County, CA – Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle in Bakersfield

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Bakersfield on Wednesday night, August 19, 2026.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Wible Road, south of Ming Avenue.

Police said the pedestrian was crossing Wible Road outside of a crosswalk when a southbound vehicle struck them. The pedestrian was pronounced dead. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said the driver showed no signs of impairment, and speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
