HIT-AND-RUN ACCIDENT STATISTICS

It is against the law to flee the scene of an accident. Every minute of every day, a hit-and-run accident occurs in the United States. An estimated 2,000 Americans have died in hit-and-run accidents across the country since 2006.

Accidents involving hit-and-runs are becoming more common. Since 2009, the number of fatalities caused by hit-and-runs has increased by 7%. An increase in hit-and-run accidents is to blame for an increase in unintentional road deaths.

During this period, more people were killed in California than in any other state in hit-and-run accidents. California accounted for more than one-fifth of all traffic fatalities in the United States, with 3,056 people killed in 2,948 collisions.

Injuries from a car accident can be extremely upsetting. It’s even worse when the other driver refuses to stop and accepts responsibility for the accident.

They are more likely to flee the scene of an accident if they are intoxicated, driving without a license, or fear arrest for their actions.
