A woman and a child were injured after a DUI two-vehicle collision in Victorville on Wednesday evening, August 23, 2023.
According to the Victorville Police Department, the incident occurred along Silica Drive near Seventh Avenue at around 8:30 p.m.
Victorville Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and found a silver Nissan sedan with rear-end damage and a black Honda sedan with frontal damage. An investigation is underway to determine the events that led to the crash.
Two adults and two children were trapped in the wreckage. The victims were successfully extricated by firefighters from the VFD. An adult woman was critically injured and was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center via Mercy Air helicopter.
A second helicopter was requested for one of the children, bringing them to Loma Linda University Medical Center from Desert Valley Hospital. The other adult and child declined medical transportation.
The drunk driver, 22-year-old Victorville resident Omar M., was later arrested for DUI.
No information was released regarding the victim’s identities.
