A 58-year-old man identified as Paul N. was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Desert Hot Springs on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.
According to Deputy Chief Steven Shaw of the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, the crash occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. in the area of Palm Drive and Cahuilla Avenue.
Shaw reported that while the man was crossing Palm Drive southbound, a suspected sport utility vehicle struck the pedestrian. The car sped off the scene.
When they arrived, officers started trying to save lives until CalFire and EMS crews showed up, according to Shaw. On the scene, the man died from his wounds.
He was later identified by the Riverside County coroner’s office.
The crash remains under investigation.
