Fatal Motorcycle Crash Statistics
Owning a motorcycle has many benefits; it is a more convenient, affordable, and versatile alternative to cars. Motorcycle riding, on the other hand, entails dangers. In the United States in 2016, there were 5,286 motorcycle fatalities.
In 2019, there were 5,014 motorcycle fatalities overall. Since the early 1980s, motorcycle fatalities have decreased. However, in 1998, they started to rise once more and stayed that way until 2008.
Due to the absence of seatbelts and airbags, motorcycle riders are more susceptible to road hazards. Statistics from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that a fatal accident is 35 times more likely to occur for motorcycle riders and they are at a 16-times higher risk of injury.
To prevent fatal injuries, motorcycle riders must dress appropriately and wear helmets.
