A 56-year-old man was severely injured after a pedestrian crash involving an SUV on the road near Point Loma Heights, Thursday morning, August 25, 2022.

The accident happened around 6:45 a.m. in the middle of the 3700 block of Poe Street.

According to SDPD, the man tried to corral his off-leash dog while walking in the middle until the 2020 Jeep SUV struck him.

Paramedics transported him to a hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening wounds.

The dog was struck by the car and was taken to a veterinary hospital in an unknown condition.
