[08-28-2022] 8-Year-Old Daughter Killed in a Suspected DUI Crash Along State Route 79According to authorities, a Southern California mother was detained on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter after her 8-year-old daughter died in a crash that wounded several people, including three youngsters, near Temecula on Sunday, August 28, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the DUI crash happened Sunday evening along State Route 79.

The 33-year-old woman was driving a Honda Pilot in the westbound lanes when the SUV slid right into the dirt shoulder.

According to the statement, she attempted to bring the SUV back onto the road but overcorrected and drifted into the other lane, striking a Chevy Silverado headed east.

According to investigators, the 8-year-old girl in the Honda was not wearing a seatbelt and died on the spot.

Officials said the mother and two other children in the Honda, a 12-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Three individuals in the Silverado were hospitalized: a 46-year-old male, a 43-year-old woman, and a 12-year-old girl.

According to the CHP, the driver of the Honda faces several charges, including felony DUI, child endangerment, and gross vehicular manslaughter.
