Fatal DUI Crash Statistics

Undoubtedly, one of the craziest things a driver can do is drive while intoxicated. Along with their own lives, it might also endanger the lives of others.

According to the NHTSA, drunk driving accidents result in 30 American fatalities.
Most fatal motor vehicle accidents in the US are caused by drunk driving, accounting for about 29% of all fatalities. 61% of these drivers have blood alcohol levels above the limit (BAC).

14% of all traffic-related fatalities in the United States in 2016—10,497 people—were the result of drunk driving. Among the 1233 children between 0 and 14 who died in traffic accidents in 2016, 214 (17%) involved an alcoholic driver.

MADD statistics showed more than 1,000 DUI-related fatalities just in California in 2017. Due to drunk driving, tens of thousands of innocent people have suffered severe, even fatal, injuries and stress.

The majority of California’s highways have a 65 mph top speed limit. The maximum speed limit is 55 mph on two-lane undivided roads and for cars towing trailers unless otherwise posted.
