[09-12-2022] San Diego County, CA – Fatal Car Crash in El Cajon Kills One, Injures Another

Authorities reported that one person was killed and another was injured in a single-vehicle collision in El Cajon early on Monday, September 12, 2022.

According to Lt. Darrin Forster of the El Cajon Police Department, the accident happened just before 2:00 a.m. in the 1500 block of Greenfield Drive.

Officers and EMS personnel were called to reports of a car that had collided with a power pole and a brick wall.

Two people with serious injuries were found inside the 2020 black Chevrolet Silverado when police found it.

Both the driver, a 37-year-old woman, and the passenger, a 45-year-old man, were taken out of the truck and taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital. Later, the man was declared dead. The woman is anticipated to survive, according to officials at this time.

According to the police, the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle while it was moving westbound on Greenfield Drive and veered off the road.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in this collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
