Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

The fact that single-car accidents are among California’s deadliest forms of traffic collisions is a fact that many motorists are unaware of.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, one vehicle is involved in 62 % of all fatal car accidents in California (NHTSA). Drivers in California must understand the factors that lead to single-vehicle collisions due to the state’s high incidence of such collisions.

A variety of factors can cause accidents involving a single vehicle. When a driver loses control of their car due to excessive speeding, sudden turns, or slippery road conditions, this type of accident is known as a “run-off-the-road.” There may be garbage on the road, such as a large branch or something falling off a truck.

Your comprehensive insurance policy will probably impose a cap on the amount of money you are eligible to receive in the event of a single-vehicle accident that was neither your fault nor the fault of the other driver, such as when a deer ran in front of your vehicle.

Los Angeles County Car Accident Lawyers

Because of their injuries, many people hurt in car accidents can’t return to work or school. Even if someone dies because of a careless driver, the driver is still to blame. The family of a person who died because a driver was reckless could sue the driver for wrongful death (or legal heirs).

It hurts them to remember their loss and sadness again. During depositions and trials, victims must tell people they don’t know what happened to them. A case that drags on for months or even years can be hard on a person’s mind.

If drivers aren’t paying attention and cause an accident, they should be held accountable. When carelessness leads to many deaths that don’t need to happen, people need to be held responsible. Wrongful death claims can be complex for the people left behind, but they can also bring closure. This will help all California drivers.
