According to the CHP officers, one female died and another person was severely injured in a fatal three-vehicle collision on Highway 41 Thursday morning, September 15, 2022.
The accident occurred around 8:16 a.m. on Avenue 15 and Highway 41.
Three vehicles and one deceased person, identified as a woman, were found on the scene when CHP officers arrived.
According to police, a Toyota Corolla and a RAM pick-up truck were traveling northbound when they allegedly struck the pick-up, sending it into the southbound lane where it collided head-on with a BMW.
According to CHP, the driver of the Corolla passed away at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the BMW was severely injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The pick-up truck driver was unharmed.
Although the cause of the collision is still being looked into, CHP officers say alcohol does not seem to be a contributing factor.
Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision Statistics

These accidents are often high-speed collisions that result in multiple fatalities. In 2014, there were 27,416 people killed or wounded in fatal multi-vehicle collisions.
Multi-vehicle collisions can be caused by various factors, including driver error, inclement weather, and roadway conditions. However, most of these accidents can be prevented by following essential safety tips, such as driving safely, using your turn signals, and paying attention to the road.
