A 21-year-old man identified as Andres J. was killed in a three-vehicle collision in the Hughson neighborhood on Thursday afternoon, September 15, 2022.
The crash occurred at 3:30 p.m. eastbound on Whitmore Avenue, just east of Waring Road.
A 2014 Nissan sedan driven by a Jimenez man was traveling eastbound on Whitmore Avenue when his vehicle drifted into the opposing lane and collided with a 2006 Ford SUV operated by Avelino A., 47, of La Grange.
The collision sent the Nissan spinning counterclockwise right into a westbound 2014 Toyota sedan driven by 47-year-old Monica Acevedo of Hughson.
The California Highway Patrol noted that Jimenez was not restrained.
Acevedo was seriously injured in the collision and airlifted to a hospital; Araiza was unharmed.
Although the investigation is ongoing, it is currently unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash Statistics
The number of traffic accidents rises as the state’s economy grows. In 2010, there were 3,304 fatal car accidents, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Being behind the wheel of a car in California is incredibly dangerous. These collisions could have been avoided if the drivers involved had done more. More than 94% of all accidents are due to human error.
Depending on the severity, a car accident injury can be excruciatingly painful or even fatal. It’s easy for drivers to overlook the dangers of driving because of the frequency with which accidents occur.
Multi-vehicle accidents are those in which there are three or more vehicles involved. A head-on collision can cause a six-car pileup.
According to a new report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, over 13,000 people were killed in multi-vehicle collisions in 2010.
Stanislaus County Car Accident Lawyers
It is much easier to prosecute two drivers in a two-vehicle accident. It is more difficult to resolve multi-vehicle accidents.
Finding the person or persons responsible is more difficult. If two or more cars collided, it’s possible that many people would have been hurt.
If it is difficult to determine who was at fault in a multi-vehicle collision, you may not want to put your faith in an insurance company. Don’t put your faith in an insurance company’s ability to quickly resolve your claim because they put their own financial interests above those of their customers.
