[09-21-2025] Kern County, CA โ€“ Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with Semi-Truck at South Union and Welch Avenues in Bakersfield

A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a semi-truck in south Bakersfield on Sunday evening, September 21, 2025.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the crash occurred around 6:07 p.m. at the intersection of South Union and Welch avenues.

The motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Welch Avenue when the semi-truck, traveling northbound on South Union Avenue, struck the motorcycle. The rider suffered major injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police reported that the semi-truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The identity of the motorcyclist will be released by the Kern County Coronerโ€™s Office at a later time.

Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
