An unidentified man died after a head-on collision on West Grayson Road on Thursday, September 22, 2022.
Around 2:15 p.m., the collision happened just east of Shiloh Road.
According to CHP Officer Tom Olsen, a Dodge Ram pickup truck driver was attempting to pass another vehicle while traveling east.
After crossing solid double yellow lines, the Ram entered the westbound lanes and collided directly with a big rig. Both the vehicles caught fire.
Raul M., the big rig’s 44-year-old Modesto driver, exited the vehicle unharmed. The Ram’s driver passed away there and then. His name and place of birth are not identified.
Due to severe collision and fire damage, it was initially uncertain if a passenger was in the RAM. Olsen gave his approval at 4:30. The car’s only occupant was the driver.
