[09-26-2022] Control Worker Died After a DUI Accident on SR 28 near Carnelian BayAccording to the police, a traffic control worker was hit after a DUI accident on SR 28 near Carnelian Bay on Monday night, September 26, 2022.

The accident happened around 10:45 p.m. near Sahara Drive.

According to the CHP reports, 36-year-old Andrew P. was operating a 2021 Subaru Forester west on SR28 from Agate Road.

Phillips failed to slow down in a construction zone, struck the control worker, and collided with a dump truck and an excavator.

Just before 11:15 p.m., the unnamed South Lake Tahoe worker, 56, passed away on the job.

After being detained on suspicion of DUI, Phillips was transported to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Station in Truckee and lodged there on $550,000 bail.

CHP Truckee Units are investigating with assistance from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
