Fatal Bicycle Crash Statistics

Riding a bike or an electric bike on the road can be dangerous and, in rare cases, even kill you. This is especially true in busy areas. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that in 2016, 840 cyclists were killed in car accidents. This is 2% of all traffic deaths.

The California Highway Patrol says that 13 people have died and 1,315 people have been hurt in recent bicycle accidents in San Diego County.

When a car and a bicycle crash, the car’s driver rarely gets hurt. Cyclists are called “vulnerable road users,” which means they are most likely to get hurt in an accident. Even if cyclists wear helmets, they can still get severe or fatal injuries in car accidents.

Bicycle accidents often happen because drivers aren’t paying enough attention to the road, run stop signs or red lights, don’t give the right of way, or are texting while driving. A tragic bicycle accident could happen if someone drives while drunk or without paying attention.

San Diego County Bike Accident Lawyers

Serious injuries can occur in bike/e-bike accidents. Because they have less impact protection than occupants of motor vehicles, bicyclists are more likely to sustain injuries in collisions, and those injuries are more likely to be fatal. Long-term injuries from a bicycle accident may force you to alter your way of life for the rest of your life.

Once the insurance company is aware that you have retained legal counsel, they will no longer be able to speak with you directly about the case. Your lawyer’s office must handle all communications, which prevents you from saying anything that might jeopardize your claim for compensation for injuries. Additionally, it shields you from being forced to accept a quick but meager settlement offer.

Any settlement discussions must be conducted through your attorney to ensure that you receive just compensation for your injuries.

You have a right to restitution for these harms and losses. The skilled bike accident lawyers at Arash Law in San Diego County know how to obtain just compensation.

Our lawyers will put forth a lot of effort to demonstrate precisely how a careless driver injured our clients and the just compensation for their losses. Find out more about bicycle accidents in San Diego County. Contact us by phone at (888) 488-1391 or online.
