[09-29-2023] Los Angeles County, CA – 64-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Injured After Being Hit by Vehicle in Santa Monica

A 64-year-old man was injured after being hit by a vehicle in Santa Monica on Friday morning, September 29, 2023.

The Santa Monica Police Department responded to reports of the pedestrian vs. vehicle collision around 8:34 a.m. along the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Marguerita Avenue.

The initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian was walking westbound on Ocean Avenue when he was struck by the driver of a 2018 Toyota SUV traveling northbound.

The victim suffered major injuries that were non-life-threatening and was immediately rushed to the hospital. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the authorities and their investigation.

According to a study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, hit-and-run accidents caused twenty-four percent (24.3 percent) of pedestrian fatalities in 2020.
