A big rig driver fatally struck a woman who was lying down in a parking lot in the Echo Park district in the early hours of Tuesday morning, October 4, 2022.
The accident happened around 12:45 a.m. in Von’s parking lot close to the junction of North Alvarado Street and Montana Street.
According to Detective Campos of the Los Angeles Police Department, a commercial truck driver entered the parking lot to make a U-turn.
A woman was lying down in the parking lot for some reason at the time.
According to Campos, she was killed when the truck driver ran over her.
After the incident, the driver was stopped and informed that someone had been run over.
According to Campos, the driver initially believed he had only run over some debris before stopping the truck and calling the police.
Campos further stated that prior to the incident, witnesses at a nearby taco stand noticed something in the parking lot, but they also assumed it was just a pile of debris up until the victim was struck.
The victim was only identified as a female. Her age and identity were unknown.
There was no indication the driver would face any charges in connection with the fatal incident.
