[10-05-2022] One Woman Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash in ChicoThe woman, identified as Judith G., 76, from Chico, died in a pedestrian crash after being struck by a car on Wednesday morning, October 5, 2022.

The accident transpired around 8 a.m. at Bruce Road and California Park Drive.

Local authorities arrived on the scene and discovered the victim lying on the ground and severely hurt.

The CPD reported that Girimonte died from her injuries at the scene despite efforts to save her life.

The CPD claimed that after speaking with numerous witnesses, their officers concluded that Girimonte was on the run when he attempted to cross Bruce Road against a red light.

The accident happened as a car was moving north on Bruce with a green light.

According to the CPD, the driver stayed on the scene and assisted with the investigation.

Investigators added that they don’t think alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.

Charges against the driver won’t be sought, according to the CPD.
