[10-05-2023] San Diego County, CA – At Least One Person Killed, Two Others Injured After Multi-Vehicle Collision in National City

At least one person was killed, and two others were injured after a multi-vehicle collision in National City on Thursday morning, October 5, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on southbound I-5, north of state Route 54, at around 2:30 a.m.

National City Fire Department personnel found a woman who sustained major injuries after being struck by a passing car when she exited her vehicle following the initial crash. Another victim was a driver who sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Authorities also stated that at least one person was pronounced dead. It is unclear exactly how many were injured or killed in the crash.

The victims’ identities are being withheld pending an investigation to determine what caused the crash and what events led up to it.
