According to the authorities, a 31-year-old man who was changing a tire was hit by a vehicle and died on Interstate 805 in Normal Heights early Thursday morning, October 6, 2022.
According to a California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision transpired around 3:10 a.m. on southbound Interstate 805 north of Adams Avenue.
Officer Jesse Matias of the California Highway Patrol said that the driver had stopped his car on the right shoulder and part of the slow lane to change a tire when he was hit by another vehicle.
Before he could be taken to a hospital, the man died.
After the accident, the driver, who was 22 years old, stayed at the scene and helped CHP officers. Investigators say they don’t think the driver was high or drunk.
Matias said that toxicology tests would be done to determine if the man who died was drunk.
CHP officers put out a traffic alert and closed the freeway’s far right lane for more than two hours while they looked into the accident.
