One person suffered minor injuries after a two-vehicle collision in Downtown LA on Friday, October 7, 2022.
The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. on Olympic Boulevard.
According to local news, a black 2018 Cadillac XTS was seen in the video released by the police department making an abrupt left turn without signaling to oncoming traffic. A tan minivan then collides with the car.
The driver of the Cadillac exited the vehicle without offering assistance or exchanging information before leaving the scene on foot, according to police.
The minivan and the Cadillac were both abandoned at the scene. According to police, the van’s driver received minor injuries.
The driver is described as a black woman with black hair, a “possible 4-foot long ponytail extension,” and “long false eyelashes.” Investigators are looking for her. She is estimated to be 160 pounds and about 6 feet 3 inches tall.
Police say they have spoken with the owner of the Cadillac but that she is not helping them with their investigation.
Call Central Traffic Detective Juan Campos at 213-833-3713 if you have any information about the car or its driver.
Two-Vehicle Collision Statistics
Traffic fatalities in the US have become a significant national concern recently. Every year, car accidents claim the lives of more than a million people. According to estimates, 3,287 people per day pass away in auto accidents. Between 20 and 50 million people worldwide are thought to suffer from permanent disabilities or injuries due to accidents each year.
Every day, tens of thousands of people walk and ride bicycles downtown. Because a car accident can drastically alter both your life and the lives of others, pay close attention to the road at all times. California has a disproportionately high traffic-related fatality and injury rate compared to other states.
According to estimates, 10% of all traffic-related fatalities in the United States occur in California. In 2017, there were 3,898 fatalities and 276,823 injuries due to automobile accidents. Since 2013, there have been 23.5% more traffic fatalities in the United States.
In 2018, there were nine fatal car accidents for every 100,000 people in California. In this state, a car or truck is involved in almost all deadly collisions.
You can keep your driving record safe by developing the habit of paying close attention while driving and keeping your car in good condition.
