[10-07-2022] DUI Driver Injured Several People in Two-Vehicle Collision near Balboa ParkAccording to the authorities, a DUI driver was involved in a two-vehicle collision, injuring several people, including a 78-year-old woman, in the Balboa Park neighborhood of San Diego Friday, October 7, 2022.

The collision occurred at 6:52 p.m. Northbound on the 2500 block of Florida Drive in the Balboa Park neighborhood of San Diego.

Officer John Buttle said the 28-year-old suspect was driving a Chevy Cruze northbound on the 2500 block of Florida Drive when he crossed the southbound lane and hit a Nissan Altima driven by a 57-year-old woman.

The woman, who was 28 years old, was arrested for driving while drunk.

A 78-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Nissan broke her left wrist open.

Paramedics checked out the suspect and the driver of the Nissan at the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody.

The Traffic Division of the police department is looking into the accident, and anyone with information was asked to call 858-495-7800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
