Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident Statistics

A collision or traffic accident could cause harm to anyone or even result in death. According to government statistics, more than 70,000 pedestrians are killed or injured annually in the US. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that in 2016, a pedestrian died in a traffic accident every 1.5 hours.

One of the main factors contributing to pedestrian injuries is distracted driving. Drivers might be talking on the phone, adjusting the radio, or interacting with passengers. When someone is multitasking, they are more likely to miss someone crossing the street.

As a pedestrian, you should be constantly aware of your surroundings and look for any signs that a driver might not see you. You should cross the street when the distracted driver is not around if they appear to be doing so.

Poor visibility is another common cause of injuries to pedestrians. Nighttime or unfavorable weather could be the cause of this. The driver’s vision will likely be affected if you can’t see clearly.

Wear bright clothing to be seen in these situations and to avoid getting hurt. Furthermore, it would be best if you crossed the street cautiously and only when the approaching driver could see you.
