According to the officials, the crash transpired around 12:30 a.m. near Stockton Boulevard and Florin Road.

Authorities say that the officer was investigating a crash that killed someone near Stockton Boulevard and Florin Road when he was hit by another car.

Investigators think that the suspect driving the car that hit the officer was drunk at the time. The suspect was caught at the scene of the crime.

Authorities said that first responders tried to save the life of the injured CHP officer. The officer was taken to a nearby hospital because he was hurt very badly.

The crash is still under investigation.
