[10-17-2022] Los Angeles County, CA – Two People Injured After Vehicle Crashes Into Big Rig On 5 Freeway in Newhall

According to the California Highway Patrol, two people were taken to the hospital after a vehicle rear-ended a big rig on the 5 Freeway in Newhall Monday evening, October 17, 2022.

According to the authorities, the collision transpired at around 4:30 p.m. on the middle lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway, south of Lyons Avenue.

Reports of a collision involving a tractor-trailer were received by emergency personnel.

According to Supervisor Ed Pickett of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, “It came in as a person’s trapped call but nobody was trapped.”

The California Highway Patrol reports that a single Honda Accord suffered a loss of control and collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer, after which it became wedged underneath the larger vehicle.

According to Pickett, “there were multiple vehicles involved, including a single vehicle that drove into a center divider.”

As a direct consequence of the collision, the northbound inner lanes of the 5 Freeway were rendered inaccessible.

According to Pickett, there were two patients who were taken to the hospital via ambulance.
