The investigation into the crash’s cause continues.
Pedestrian Accident Statistics
Yearly, more car occupants are hurt or killed by pedestrians and bikers than by any other group. There aren’t enough precautions in place in case of an emergency.
The number of pedestrian fatalities and injuries has risen dramatically in recent years. There was a 14 percent increase in pedestrian fatalities over vehicle fatalities between 2007 and 2016.
The United States saw 5,977 pedestrian deaths in 2017. If you do the math, that’s about one person every minute. Over $137,500 was spent in 2017 by emergency rooms treating nonfatal pedestrian injuries.
The number of pedestrian fatalities and severe injuries is shockingly high in California. In California alone, 893 pedestrians died, and 14,000 were injured last year.
Most pedestrian accidents occur because motorists are careless and either does not yield the right of way or do not slow down enough to avoid colliding with pedestrians. In such a case, you must seek an experienced attorney’s counsel.
