Four workers at a Starbucks located in San Juan Capistrano were taken to the hospital after hazmat crews were called to the coffee shop on Sunday, October 23, 2022.
According to Nguyen, a spokesman for the Orange County Fire Authority, the incident happened around 2:00 p.m. at the Starbucks in the 30800 block of Gateway Place.
According to Nguyen, four employees dialed 911 to report feeling unwell for an unknown reason.
When paramedics arrived at Starbucks, they found the workers waiting outside.

A hazmat team will investigate the presence of any hazardous materials inside the company.
Workplace Accident Statistics
However, while most workplaces are safe, a small number pose serious risks to workers due to factors such as their structure or location. Unsurprisingly, the highest workplace fatalities rates occur in the building and construction, industrial, agricultural, and transportation industries.
As reported by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA), more than 4,500 workers are killed or injured each year due to accidents on the job.
According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, over two-thirds of American workers were injured on the job in 2019. This amount remained the same throughout 2020.
While workplace fatalities have remained relatively stable, the number of workers’ compensation claims has been falling. The number of workplace fatalities in 2018 was 5,333, an increase of 2% from the previous year. The yearly death toll has been rising since 2010.
In 2018, there was a 2% increase in workplace fatalities. So far this year, 5,333 people have lost their lives in traffic-related incidents. One in five accidental deaths was the result of a fall due to tripping, slipping, or other similar causes. Car accidents were responsible for 39.8% of all deaths in the United States in 2016.
Car accidents, workplace crushes, and homicides are the leading causes of death in the workplace. Common causes of nonfatal workplace injuries include overexertion from lifting and moving heavy objects and slips and trips.
