[10-23-2025] Santa Clara County, CA โ€“ Pedestrian Killed in Collision on Monterey Road Near Edenview Drive in San Jose

A pedestrian was fatally struck on Monterey Road near Edenview Drive in San Jose early Thursday, October 23, 2025.

According to San Jose police, the crash was reported at 5:59 a.m. An initial investigation found that a man driving a silver 2001 Acura sedan was northbound on Monterey Road when he hit a man who was walking east across the street.

The pedestrian died at the scene and has not yet been publicly identified pending next-of-kin notification by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coronerโ€™s Office.

Police said the driver initially left but soon returned and cooperated with investigators. Officers added that the pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk. The collision marked San Joseโ€™s 30th traffic death of the year and the 15th involving a pedestrian.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
