Fatal Two-Vehicle Accident Statistics
American adults aged 1-44 die from unintentional accidents more often than from any other cause. Among these are unintended car accidents, which occur at least once every minute. In total, there are two million fatalities and injuries every year.
The unintended road fatalities in California are about 10,000 per year. California has experienced a 23.5% increase in fatal car accidents since 2013. Traffic-related accidents resulted in 485,866 deaths and 276,823 injuries in 2017. In 2018, there were nine traffic-related death per 100,000 people.
As the statistics above show, accidents that result in these statistics can and will occur regardless of how careful the drivers seem to be on the road.
A vibrant community must provide a variety of transportation options, including driving, taking public transportation, biking, and walking. Despite this, hundreds of individuals suffer injuries or lose their lives in traffic collisions each year, many of which could have been prevented.
It is important for drivers to inspect their vehicles regularly. It’s also essential for them to be excellent drivers, to pay attention to the road, and to obey traffic laws at all times.
