Multi-Vehicle Crash Statistics
Regarding severe injuries and fatalities among Americans, car accidents outnumber all other types of accidents. Vehicle accidents cause nearly 200,000 deaths and serious injuries each year.
According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a car accident happens every 60 seconds. Over 3,300 fatal car accidents occurred in California in 2016. Over 94% of all accidents are the result of avoidable human error.
The National Safety Council estimates that one in ten fatalities in the US each year is caused by automobile accidents. Three thousand eight hundred ninety-eight people lost their lives, and more than 2,765,000 others were injured in car accidents in California in 2019. As a result of car accidents, the number of fatalities and injuries has increased by 23.5% since 2013.
A multi-vehicle accident involves three or more vehicles. Six vehicles could become entangled in the wreckage of a car accident.
Traffic accidents are less likely to cause fatalities, serious injuries, or property damage than multi-vehicle collisions. Those nearby could be harmed if someone lacks control or has poor situational awareness. It is more likely that such a crash will occur in most cases.
