One person was killed following a two-vehicle collision in Delano on Thursday morning, November 17, 2022.
According to the California Highway Patrol, who responded to the site, the crash occurred around 5:00 a.m. at the Driver Road and 9th Avenue intersection.
The collision involved a Honda Ridgeline truck driven by 20-year-old Allen A. from Delano traveling at an unknown speed east on 9th Avenue toward Driver Road.
It also involved a box truck driven by 25-year-old Robert O. traveling 55 mph south on Driver Road.
According to authorities, the Honda driver struck the box truck’s right side after failing to stop at a stop sign. He was declared dead on the spot for not reportedly wearing a seatbelt.
Ochoa received minor injuries after reportedly wearing a seatbelt and was sent to Adventist Health Hospital. It’s unclear what his current condition is.
The involvement of alcohol or drugs in this collision is being looked into as the investigation continues.
