A male pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 138 near Evergreen Road in Piñon Hills, San Bernardino County, on Sunday night, November 17, 2024.
The incident occurred around 8:03 p.m., prompting a response from emergency personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
Upon arrival, responders found the man lying in the middle of the road and airlifted him to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Initially, the Reach 13 helicopter was dispatched but had to abort due to an unspecified issue. The Mercy Air 22 helicopter was then sent and successfully transported the pedestrian to the trauma center, with the landing zone established at Stater Bros in Phelan.
While two vehicles were observed pulled over, it remains unclear if one of them was involved in the incident.
The California Highway Patrol has not yet provided comments, and there was limited information on the condition of the pedestrian or the vehicle that struck him.
