One person was killed while seven people were hurt after a major multi-vehicle crash outside of Sanger on Saturday afternoon, November 20, 2021.
The deadly accident transpired at approximately 5:18 p.m. in the area of North Piedra Road near West Weldon Avenue outside of Sanger.
According to the CHP, a man was driving his pickup down Piedra Road when it became stuck in a ditch on the side of the road near Weldon Avenue. He then asked for assistance from his neighbors.
Meanwhile, a woman driving a vehicle with five children smashed into the tractor while the neighbor attempted to lift the truck out of the ditch. The woman claimed that she could not see the tractor clearly as it was dark at the time of the accident.
The driver of the van was ejected on the roadway. He sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the pickup truck driver suffered a hip injury.
The woman and her five children were also injured in the mishap. They were all taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Drugs and alcohol were not considered as factors in the mishap. The crash is currently under further investigation.
