Each year, drunk driving crashes in California cause 30,000 injuries and about 2,000 fatalities. Intoxication by drugs or alcohol is defined in different ways depending on the driver’s age and the type of vehicle being operated.

One in every five pedestrian-vehicle accidents involves a driver who flees the scene. A driver’s decision to run is frequently influenced by intoxication, driving without a license, and fear of arrest.

Drowsy drivers, those who have trouble making snap decisions, and those with poor reflexes are some leading causes of traffic accidents. On California’s most dangerous roads, drunk drivers pose an incredibly high risk to other drivers and pedestrians.
