Three people were slightly injured following a two-vehicle collision in Hesperia on Monday, December 05, 2022.
According to the local authorities, the crash transpired at 10:14 a.m. at the freeway offramp of Interstate 15 at Main Street.
A white Chevrolet Tahoe tried to make a turn onto Main Street after exiting the freeway when a blue Ford sedan passed the red light and struck the SUV.
The sedan could not stop due to the impact until it reached the Main Street and Mariposa Road intersection, almost hitting other cars at the red light.
The sedan’s occupants, a mother and her daughter, were treated by the San Bernardino County Fire for minor cuts. The SUV driver complained of abdominal pain. Fortunately, no one was taken by ambulance.
Main Street and the northbound 15 off-lane ramps were impacted. About an hour later, two tow trucks came to the scene to remove the cars from the road.
The Hesperia Police and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies are looking into the crash.
Two-Vehicle Accident Statistics
Every minute in the United States, one person is killed or critically injured in a car crash. Between the ages of 2 and 24, around 2 million children and young adults die each year, and another 10 million are injured.
Authorities estimate that by the year 2050, the state of California will have a yearly death toll from automobile accidents of 10,000 people.
From 2014 to 2015, there was a 23.5% increase in the number of fatal car accidents in the state. In 2017, it was expected that 3,898 people would perish in traffic-related events, while another 276,823 would get injuries. Nine people per 100,000 took public transit in 2018, which is a very high rate.
No matter how carefully a driver drives, sooner or later, an accident will occur through no fault of their own. Keep your eyes on the road, make sure your car is in good working order, and always drive safely.
