[12-05-2022] Elderly Man Killed in Head-On Collision with Semi-Truck near CorningAuthorities said a 75-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision involving a semi-truck near Corning on Monday evening, December 05, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol Red Bluff area, the fatal crash occurred around 5:40 p.m. near the South Avenue and Michigan Avenue intersection.

Denver W. from Corning was reportedly traveling in his 2006 Kia Sorento west on South Avenue when he made a risky attempt to pass a car ahead of him by entering the opposite lane.

He collided head-on with a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia truck that was traveling east on South Avenue at the same time.

The big rig driver was only slightly hurt in the collision. But Williams was fatally injured in the crash despite wearing his seatbelt.

CHP said they are still looking into the collision, but preliminary findings indicate that alcohol was not a factor.
