At least one person was injured in a multi-vehicle crash caused allegedly by a speeding driver in San Diego on Wednesday night, December 14, 2022.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash involving at least five vehicles occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of El Cajon Boulevard in City Heights.
A 66-year-old male driver was traveling on a Toyota Camry at 70 to 80 mph east on El Cajon when he rear-ended a Mitsubishi Galant, causing the Toyota to spin through the Cherokee Avenue intersection. It then struck a parked car which resulted in a collision with two more vehicles.
The driver suffered two shattered legs and numerous facial cuts requiring him to be transferred to a hospital for medical attention.
The 44-year-old female driver of the Mitsubishi and her passengers escaped unharmed. The total number of people involved and the extent of injuries remains unclear.
Police reported that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the collision as the investigation continued.
Multi-Vehicle Accident Statistics
