[12-17-2023] Marin County, CA – 19-Year-Old Passenger Killed, Two Drivers Hospitalized After Reckless Two-Vehicle Collision Along I-580

A 19-year-old passenger was killed and two drivers were hospitalized after a reckless two-vehicle collision in Marin County on Sunday evening, December 17, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened around 7:57 p.m. on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge along Interstate 580.

A silver Honda sedan was reportedly speeding on the bridge when it tried to change lanes and rear-ended a white Mazda SUV before rolling over several times.

An unconscious occupant was extricated from the mangled Honda and was given CPR before being declared dead at the scene. She was later identified as a 19-year-old named Darolyn R.

Both the Honda and Mazda drivers were taken to a local hospital in an unknown condition. All lanes of the bridge were temporarily closed until 11:30 p.m. on the same day.

The authorities ruled out DUI as a factor and are currently conducting an investigation into the fatal collision.
