A woman was killed after a DUI hit-and-run crash in San Leandro early Monday morning, December 18, 2023.
According to the San Leandro Police Department, the crash occurred after 12:00 a.m. in the 600 block of Lewelling Boulevard.
The female pedestrian was struck by an unidentified vehicle that shortly fled the scene. At the time of the collision, it was unclear whether she was in a crosswalk or somewhere else on the street.
The victim was found with severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspected driver and vehicle were shortly found in the parking lot of a nearby business.
An initial investigation led to the driver’s arrest for vehicular manslaughter, DUI, and felony hit-and-run. At this time, no further details are available regarding the cause of the crash.
