[12-31-2023] San Bernardino County, CA – 32-Year-Old Rider Killed, 33-Year-Old Driver Injured After Reckless Multi-Vehicle Crash in Fontana

A 32-year-old male rider was killed, and a 33-year-old driver was injured after a reckless vehicle crash in Fontana on New Year’s Eve, Sunday, December 31, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at around 8:24 p.m. on Interstate 10, west of Cherry Avenue.

Reports say the rider of a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed in the No. 2 lane when he rear-ended a Nissan Maxima.

The rider was thrown from the Kawasaki and landed in the No. 2 lane. As he lay on the ground, another vehicle ran over him and collided with the Kawasaki that was blocking the No. 1 and 2 lanes.

The rider was taken to the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. A minor injury was sustained by the driver of the Nissan, who was also transported to the hospital.

Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the crash.  No further details have been released, and authorities are gathering all the necessary information.
