[11-04-2022] Merced County, CA – 2-Year-Old Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash in Merced

The Merced Police Department stated that a 2-year-old child was injured in a single-car crash in Merced on Friday night, November 4, 2022.

According to the local police, the crash caused by a driver driving under the influence happened on a Friday night in the 200 block of East 21st Street.

Alexandra R., 22, fell asleep at the wheel due to intoxication. Her vehicle flipped after crashing into a tree, trapping the 2-year-old inside with her.

The officer who responded to the crash found the child not properly restrained in the backseat. Fortunately, the child’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Ramirez was detained for multiple felony charges, including D.U.I. causing injury, hit-and-run, and child endangerment. The Merced County Jail stated her bond was set at $220,360.

The Merced Police Department is looking further into the crash.
