An officer is making a full recovery after being run over during a traffic stop that resulted in a hit-and-run collision in central Fresno on Monday, August 8, 2022.
The police received a report of a hit-and-run at 12:30 a.m. at Shaw and Cedar.
The police observed the suspected vehicle and stopped the driver at Cedar and Princeton.
According to police, the driver and her passenger were uncooperative and began to drive away.
According to Fresno Police Lt. Skye Leibee, she ran over the officer’s foot and sideswiped his knee as she attempted to escape the traffic stop.
The officer was taken to CRMC despite having minor injuries.
Soon after, the car struck another vehicle at Cedar and McKinley, turning it on its side.
That car contained four people, all of whom were injured and taken to the hospital.
Police were able to detain the passenger and arrest the driver.
The woman is accused of hitting and running, DUI, and assaulting an officer, among other felonies.
