[08-07-2022] Merced County, CA – Three People Killed in Two-Vehicle Head-On Crash near Merced

According to the California Highway Patrol, three people are dead after a head-on collision just outside of Merced Sunday morning, August 7, 2022.

The crash transpired just before 6:00 a.m. on Santa Fe Drive, west of Franklin Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 34-year-old Merced man was traveling west in a Jeep when, for some reason, he entered the eastbound lanes.

It collided with a Nissan that a Turlock resident, 38, was operating. Along with the two, a woman in a Jeep, 34, was also killed in the collision.

She wasn’t buckled up, according to the police, and was riding in the backseat. Despite being heavily used, the road is not said to stand out as being dangerous.

They claim to be investigating whether alcohol or drugs may have been involved.

The victims have not been publicly identified by the police, who are also still looking into what caused the collision.
